15 Year old Nick Pearce showed maturity above his years leading the Blues batting. Pearce spent more than 3 hours at the crease scoring 25. Batting at number 3, he worked hard against the Sheffield experienced pace attack.

1st Grade Semi Final Scores

Day1 Sheffield

The Blues won the toss and elected to bat first on a variable paced, variable bounce pitch. Elliott Miller and makeshift opener Jye Gardam taking the score to 25 before Miller was caught in slips off Craig Boutcher. Gardam looked impresive with the bat and was joined by youngster Nick Pearce. Pearce was the mainstay of the Blues innings batting for 3 hours and was eventually dismissed for 25.
Pearce watched as there was a steady possesion of players heading back to the pavilion. Corey Gleeson (7), Andrew House (10), Jarrod Wilcox (1) and Mathew Allen (0). Adrian Dixon showed some flair scoring 14 in quick time but run out of partners with the blues loosing Manassa Walker (3) Zeke Gardam (3) and Todd Chatwin (2).

Craig Boutcher and Shane Crawford the main wicket takers, eventually bowling the blues out for 113 in the 54th over.

In reply, Sheffield struggled early losing both Nik Hizartzidis (1) and Gary Miles (0) off the bowling of Matthew Allen to be 2-8, and when Todd Chatwin knocked over Alex King for a duck, Sheffield was 3-16 and an upset was on the cards. Tim Irivine stood tall, and together with Richard Miles combined for a 59-run stand that took their team to the more comfortable position of 3-75.
Late afternoon Jye Gardam took the ball and took some gloss of the Mountaineers day as he removed both Irvine and Miles before stumps to leave them at 5-95. Quick wickets will be the order of the day for Wynyard if they are to pick up a win.
Junior Blues

U15 Into Grand Final

The Skilled Blues U15 has played their way into the cricket north west grand final. The blues defeated Latrobe. Latrobe won the toss and batted first. Latrobe started off slowly losing two early wickets with Andrew Baker, Manassa Walker,Matthew Kinch and Brodie Stokes bowling good line and length.
Jamie Aherne then took control for Latrobe playing some delightful shots and scoring with ease.L.Keep also batted well scoring 39 not out.
Then Wynyards Declan West came into the attack and picked up three vital wickets including that of Aherne.

Latrobe finished –ALL OUT 141

Wynyard started the run chase badly losing three early wickets with Saltmarsh, Kinch and West all back in the sheds with the score 3/25.

Then the two form players of the week got together and put on a 90 run partnership to swing the game back in Wynyards favour.

Brodie Stokes and Manassa Walker –after coming off a second grade partnership on Saturday of 138 run backed up again Sunday with both players showing maturity playing both defensive and attacking shots.

Stokes and Walker both scored 50 not out innings with forced retirements, then young Nick Wilson and Brayden Hyde stayed in and guided the team home.
